No.343 Squadron was the RAF designation given to a French naval anti-submarine warfare squadron operating from Dakar. The French unit, Flotille 7E, had been operating as part of No.496 Wing, using a mix of French flying boats and Sunderlands.

On 29 November 1943 the unit was given the RAF designation of No.343 Squadron. By this point it was entirely equipped with Sunderlands, and these aircraft were used on anti-submarine warfare patrols and to provide convoy escorts off the west coast of Africa (working alongside the land based No.344 Squadron). No.343 squadron was transferred to French control on 27 November 1945.
